Knights, Dames, Guests and visitors,

All Knights and Dames of the Order are warmly invited to attend the first ever Grand Council and Grand Convent / Investiture hosted by the Priory of St. Andrew, Nashville, Tennessee, beginning Thursday, 11 October, 2001 and ending Sunday, 14 October, 2001. A Registration Form / Schedule of Events is attached to this announcement.

The weekend events will begin on Thursday evening, 11 October, at "Shadowbrook", a Bavarian style home of Chev. Nelson E. Davenport, Commander, Cumberland Commandery, and Dame Clara R. Davenport. Beef tenderloin and an included Mint Julep headline the dinner. Motor coaches depart the Franklin Marriott at 6:00 PM and will return by 10:00 PM. Cash Bar will be available.

On Friday morning, 12 October, we are offering a choice of three (3) tours:

A: A Civil War Battle Field Tour escorted by A&E Historian Thomas E. Cartwright, in period attire. Sites include Rippa Villa, Spring Hill, Winstead Hill, Carter House and Carnton Plantation. Lunch will be at The Bunganut Pig. Price includes all admissions, but not lunch. Tour limited to 45 people.

B: Scenic Brentwood & Historic Downtown Franklin Tour, escorted by Brentwood/Williamson County Historian, Chev. T. Vance Little, includes admissions to the Carter House and Carnton Plantation, with time allowed for shopping on Main Street, Franklin. We are suggesting a light lunch at HRH Dumplins, 11:00 AM.

C: "Nashville – Yesterday and Today" will be hosted by Dame Mary Nell Snoddy and visit historic "Travelers' Rest", Fort Nashboro (the original settlement of Nashville), the Tennessee State Capitol, Printer’s Alley, The Parthenon in Centennial Park, Belle Meade, and Belle Meade Plantation. Price includes all admissions. Lunch extra.

Not later than 2:00 PM, Friday afternoon, motor coaches will depart for an approximately one and one half hour drive, south from Nashville to Lynchburg, Tennessee, home of the world renown "Jack Daniel’s Distillery. We will tour the distillery and then be escorted to their picnic ground for an unbelievable meal (barbecue and all the fixin’s) plus all of their famous products that you wish to consume. If you leave there hungry, it’s your own fault!!! We will return to the hotel by 10:00 PM. Note: Transportation must be by motor coach only! No cars!!!

For those not desiring to go to Jack Daniel’s, may we suggest an evening at the world famous "Grand Ole Opry". Individual arrangements may be made, but hurry, space is limited. Based on a minimum of 15 people, the price would be $35.00 per person. This price includes motor coach transportation. Departure time from the hotel is 6:30 PM.

Saturday morning, 13 October, the Grand Council will convene at 9:00 AM at the Franklin Marriott. Room location to be advised. An in-room working lunch buffet will be provided at 11:30 AM. If necessary, the Grand Council will continue meeting on Sunday morning.

The Grand Convent and Investiture of the Priory of St. Andrew will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 4815 Franklin Road, Nashville, Tennessee. Motor coaches will be available beginning at 2:00 PM for the Convent rehearsal, with additional coaches departing the hotel at 3:00 PM.

Following the Grand Convent, motor coaches will be available for transportation to the Grand Priory Formal Dinner at the prestigious Belle Meade Country Club. Cocktails (Cash Bar) are scheduled upon arrival. Music will accompany dinner and dancing, followed by a demonstration and participation by the Hamilton Scottish Country Dancers, members of the Priory of St. Andrew.

On Sunday, 14 October, for those who are not ready to depart so early, we are offering a Southern Brunch, hosted by COL Chev. M. Howard Massey at the pre-Civil War home of the Polk family, at "Rattle and Snap" Plantation, Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Motor coach will depart the hotel at 9:00 AM and return by 1:00 PM.
