Hospital Corpsman Third Class Malcolm Thomas Miller, USN, was assigned to Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Reconnaisance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, Pacific. On May 10, 1967, he was a member of a reconnaissance team that confronted enemy troops in the vicinity of Khe Sahn, Republic of Vietnam. Petty Officer Miller died of wounds received from enemy grenades; however, his remains were not recovered.
